GIRAFFE EXPERIENCE:
Come meet our two giraffes Shorty & Sheila who were rescued as babies when sadly, Shorty’s mother was injured and Sheila’s mother couldn’t provide enough milk due to the severe drought.

Our two tall friends are free to re-join the rest of the herd whenever they want, but thanks to all the love, attention and treats they receive from our guests, they quite like staying close to the restaurant. This unique experience allows for some great photo ops and guests can get some beautiful photos while bottle feeding these amazing animals. Throughout the day, guests are also welcome to buy food for Shorty and Sheila from the curio shop.

They love these treats and will nibble them straight from your hand.

BUFFALO EXPERIENCE:

After Chandelier’s Buffalo Experience, you’ll know so much more about this once endangered member of the Big 5 and also have some incredible close-ups to take home with you. An easy walk takes you to the buffalo breeding herd where you can capture a close-up accompanied by our guides.

Calves are born all year round, so you won’t miss out on the opportunity to see some baby buffaloes as well.

OSTRICH FARM TOURS:
South Africa is home to the world’s largest flightless bird, the ostrich. These fascinating birds have long been a popular attraction for visitors and so the team at Chandelier have pulled out all the stops to make their ostrich show farm tour an unforgettable experience.

Visit the breeding ostriches with their chicks and have fun feeding these enormous birds by hand. Not only are the tours lots of fun, you’ll also learn all there is to know about ostriches.

But perhaps the highlight of the tour is the famous Chandelier ostrich race, where you can watch the professional jockeys racing on the backs of these big birds.

SUNDOWNER BUSH DINNER:
The sundowner bush dinner at Chandelier Game Lodge is an absolute must and makes for the perfect ending to an unforgettable day! Taken by open land rovers to a lapa high up in the mountains, guests are treated to the most spectacular views. Sip on an ice-cold sundowner while watching the sun setting over the Swartberg Mountains.

As the stars start coming out the barbecue fire starts crackling. The 3-course dinner has a variety of mouth-watering traditional South African delicacies including kudu, ostrich and springbuck. (Please note that drinks are not included.

Drink orders can be placed when booking your sundowner bush dinner.) Dinner is followed up by some guided stargazing. With little to no light pollution one stands in awe of how bright the starry Karoo night sky is. The evening is wrapped up with a night game drive using spotlights to view what the nocturnal creatures are up to.

Finally, it’s off to bed for a peaceful night’s rest in our luxurious tented chalets.

KHOI-SAN TRAIL:
The Klein Karoo can be a harsh and unforgiving landscape, which is one of the reasons why the Khoi-San’s story is so remarkable. Chandelier’s Khoi-San Trail allows guests to see the ingenuity of these indigenous people, how they lived and managed to survive the extreme conditions of this semi-dessert landscape.

Follow our Khoi-San guide, Njoem, as he explains more about his culture, their traditions and their harmonious relationship with this arid and demanding landscape. This informative tour is highly recommended and is about 1h 15min in duration.
