Meiringspoort MTB Challenge

Date: 26 May 2018

Unique, open space, mountains, blue skies, fresh air - this is what you will experience by doing the Meiringspoort MTB Challenge. Presented for the second time in De Rust, this Challenge will take you through the Klein Karoo at it's best. You will hear & see Verreaux's Eagle, Fish Eagle and many more while riding on the one track gravel road between Klein Karoo plants.
To accommodate everyone, there are 2 circle routes to choose from. The scenic 31km is the shorter route for the rider who wants to enjoy the scenery and nature at it's best. The adventurous 60.5km is specifically for the rider who wants to go the extreme.
The 31km route is for the less experienced rider who wants to enjoy the open air and beautiful surroundings, such as lucerne pastures and vineyards. There is one waterpoint with a spectacular view over Stompdriftdam. Not to be missed! If you want to spend time in nature and to enjoy the beautiful Klein Karoo at its best, this route is definitely for you. The circle route starts and ends at the NG Church Grounds in De Rust.
The 60,5km route is definitely for the more adventurous and experienced rider. There is a lot of jeep track. Ensure that your bicycle is well equipped. The circle route starts at the NG Church Grounds in De Rust. You will pass through the farms and Klein Karoo countryside. The best part is the full circle around the well-known Stompdriftdam, at the foot of the astonishing Kammanasie Mountain. Thereafter you will pass through a Game Farm. Maybe Eland and Kudu are waiting for you under a huge tree. After an unforgetable adventure and two well equipped water points, you are back in De Rust for a good rest.
